Over US$1 billion for six Vietnam expressways

More than US$1 billion is being spent on building six Vietnam expressways.

Vietnam is to benefit to work on six expressway projects costing in excess of US$1 billion, part of a programme to extend the expressway network by 3,000km. The country's major cities will also benefit from new road and bridge projects.

The 60km Dau Giay-Tan Phu Expressway is being built in Dong Nai Province and will cost $359 million. The 26.6km My An-Cao Lanh Expressway in Dong Thap Province will feature three lanes in either direction and will cost $243 million. Widening the 98km Cam Lo-La Son Expressway to two lanes in either direction will cost $258.6 million, while the 65km La Son-Hoa Lien Expressway upgrade will cost $123.5 million.

Work is also due to start on the 29km Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway, which will connect National Highway 3B and the Bac Kan-Ba Be Lake Expressway. And the 15km Cao Bo-Mai Son Expressway upgrade will cost $74.5 million and improve transport between Ninh Binh Province and Nam Dinh Province.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s South Central Coast - Central Highlands region is to benefit from projects including the Eastern Expressway, the Ho Chi Minh Road and the coastal road stretching from North to South.
