Under the deal, 3220 Parsons is required to provide preliminary and detailed design as well as providing tender documents, construction supervision, traffic study and analysis along with alignment study and finalisation. The project includes the conversion of a single 715km carriageway between the towns of Adam and Thumrait into a four-lane dual carriageway along with a number of rest and service areas, weigh stations, intermittent grade-separated interchanges, camel crossings and cross-drainage structures. On completion, a dual carriageway covering more than 1,000km will link Muscat and Salalah. Meanwhile, Malaysian construction firm 6491 WCT has secured a contract worth $319.69 million for the construction of a 44.75km expressway in Oman. According to a statement, WCT will be undertaking the project through a joint venture with Oman Roads Engineering within a period of three years.
