Oman announces road contracts

Work on six major road construction contracts will commence in Oman shortly with projects worth a total of US$344.2 million. The deals were signed by the country's Transport and Communications Ministry. Desert Line Company will build the second phase of the ongoing Nizwa-Ibri dual carriageway project and also has a deal for the design and construction of a road linking Maskan and Muqniyat in the Wilayat of Ibri. Work on six major road construction contracts will commence in Oman shortly with projects worth a total of US$344.2 million. The deals were signed by the country's Transport and Communications Ministry. 1025 Desert Line Company will build the second phase of the ongoing Nizwa-Ibri dual carriageway project and also has a deal for the design and construction of a road linking Maskan and Muqniyat in the Wilayat of Ibri. Khalid bin Ahmed & Sons is to build the Wadi Mistil road in the Al Batinah region, while a partnership between 1031 Al Nasr Al Arabia and 890 China Railway Company has the contract to build the Taitam-Qaftoot road in Dhofar.

    Contracts worth in excess of US$ 436 million are now being awarded in Oman for a series of road improvements and upgrades. One notable deal is for the installation of safety barriers along the Qurayat-Sur road, while another is for the annual maintenance of dirt roads in Dakhiliyah, Musandam along with Sharqiyah North and South between 2012 and 2015.   • Work is scheduled to start on new Oman highway

    Construction work on a key highway link in Oman is due to commence shortly. The 46km stretch of highway will be built by a joint venture comprising Serbian firm Konstruktor and Indian company Simplex Infrastructure. The project is worth some US$335 million and Simplex Infrastructure will be the majority partner with 52%, while Konstruktor will hold the remaining 48%.
