Oman announces road contracts

Work on six major road construction contracts will commence in Oman shortly with projects worth a total of US$344.2 million. The deals were signed by the country's Transport and Communications Ministry. Work on six major road construction contracts will commence in Oman shortly with projects worth a total of US$344.2 million. The deals were signed by the country's Transport and Communications Ministry. 1025 Desert Line Company will build the second phase of the ongoing Nizwa-Ibri dual carriageway project and also has a deal for the design and construction of a road linking Maskan and Muqniyat in the Wilayat of Ibri. Khalid bin Ahmed & Sons is to build the Wadi Mistil road in the Al Batinah region, while a partnership between 1031 Al Nasr Al Arabia and 890 China Railway Company has the contract to build the Taitam-Qaftoot road in Dhofar.

The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is signing contracts worth over €753.55 mIllion for the construction of two S7 dual carriageway sections. These will form part of the Gdansk-Warsaw route. Czech firm Metrostav will build the 20km section between Koszwaly and Nowy Dwor Gdanski.     Japanese consultants are planning to realign a Kenyan bypass, as Shem Oirere reports. Japanese consultants are resolving an engineering quagmire involving a 17.5km bypass in Kenya's Coast region.
