OEMs turn to MTU for Tier 4 Final engine

Engine manufacturer MTU, has become a major supplier to the construction market, celebrating new installations in Bomag, Hidromek, Manitou and Bell machines at the Intermat 2015 show. The company, now part of the Rolls-Royce Land & Sea division, has its first 10V1600 engine on display in Bomag’s BM2000 cold milling machine. With an output of 567kW, the 10V1600 is Stage IV/Tier 4 Final emissions compliant.

Engine manufacturer 7648 MTU, has become a major supplier to the construction market, celebrating new installations in 172 Bomag, 230 Hidromek, 2106 Manitou and 1240 Bell machines at the Intermat 2015 show.  The company, now part of the Rolls-Royce Land & Sea division, has its first 10V1600 engine on display in Bomag’s BM2000 cold milling machine. With an output of 567kW, the 10V1600 is Stage IV/Tier 4 Final emissions compliant.

The Stage IV/Tier 4 Final 6R1000 engine can also be seen in both Bomag’s BM1000 and in a new wheeled loader on the Hidromek stand, while the 6R1300 has been unveiled in Bell’s 50 tonne B50E articulated dump truck, where it offers 390kW. Bell also uses the 6R1000 in its smaller B30E truck.

    Engine manufacturer MTU, a division of Rolls Royce Power Systems, is trialling its Capacitor Power System (CaPoS) in three mining trucks operating in South Africa. CaPoS is a maintenance-free starter system using super capacitors. The integration of two CaPoS modules on a mining truck equipped with an MTU 4000-series engine can be operated using four batteries instead of the usual eight.
