The Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) at Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Road Federation (IRF Geneva), Geneva (Switzerland). This is intended to further expand and consolidate collaboration and exchange of expertise particularly on traffic safety.
Mexico's federal tolling authority, RFID technology specialist Sirit, and Axiompass, an integrator and supplier of tolling equipment and RFID systems, have announced they have successfully installed the first toll-free system for residents in the country using Sirit RFID readers.
The European Commission has announced a major package of road safety measures. These include new targets, in a bid to cut road deaths and serious injuries in half by 2030. New car safety standards will make life-saving technologies such as Automated Emergency Braking and overridable Intelligent Speed Assistance a standard feature on all new vehicles. At present these features are only available as an option on some models.
