Construction of a major 47km highway and sea protection dike development in Manila has been thrown into doubt after no bids were received for the US$2.65 billion contract.
Philippines media report that the Department of Public Works and Highways declared the auction for the six-lane Laguna Expressway Dike Project a failure after the three pre-qualified bidders didn’t submit bids.

Fresh talks are due to take place in January in a bid to kick-start the stalled Cork-Limerick motorway project in Ireland. Cork County Council (CCC) engineer Noel O'Keeffe will meet Leo Varadkar, the Transport Minister, and the National Roads Authority, to find a way forward for the €800million (US$1.04billion) scheme. The 80km motorway cost CCC €19.5million (US$25.42million) to design before it was recently shelved by the NRA due to the lack of funds.
Serbia’s Ministry of Infrastructure intends for work to start on the Corridor 10 highway project during 2010. This is a major project and has been split into several sections, with a total cost of €800 million.
