Bidding is now underway for a road project in Northern Ireland. Several joint venture groups are tendering for the €699 million A5 Western Transport Corridor project, which is being split into three sections.
A series of major road projects is now getting underway in Poland, while tenders for new projects are also opening. Estimates suggest that the construction of six new ring-roads in the Opolszczyzna region will cost some €356 million. These ring roads all form part of the 2014-2023 National Road Construction Programme. The first projects to be carried out will be for the ring-roads around Mysliny and Niemodlina. In all, the National Road Construction Programme will include the building of 57 ring-roads.
Egis Lagan Services now has a new contract in Ireland for the provision of operation, maintenance and renewals services on 330km of motorways in Ireland. Egis Lagan Services is a joint venture company between the French company Egis and Northern Irish infrastructure company Lagan. Contractor VAD now looks likely to carry out rebuilding work for the northern stretch of St Petersburg’s Ring Road. This section of the ring road runs between the Priozerskoye Highway and the Western High-Speed Diameter route. VAD’s bid for the 14.3km stretch has received approval from the tender commission. The work will cost just over US$100 million to be carried out and should be complete by November 2020.
