A Chinese contractor is to build a major expressway link in Nigeria. The contract is for a 15km section of highway. The work will be handled by 890 China Railway Construction.
Potain tower cranes are being used to construct a major cable-stayed bridge in China. The conditions are tough and feature high winds and monsoon conditions, with the cranes working at an altitude of 1,500m above sea level in a mountain range in southern China to build the Duge Beipanjiang Bridge, which will span 720m when it is complete

The agreement between Ghana and China over a road construction project has been settled. The deal will see Ghana effectively trading bauxite from a mining operation with a Chinese firm, which will build road links in the West African nation. The deal is called the Sinohydro Bauxite Barter Arrangement and has been set up with Ghana’s Government. Ghana will supply the firm with around 5% of its refined bauxite production under the agreement.

Construction work on the important Loko-Oweto Bridge project in Nigeria should be complete in May 2019. The project has cost around US$141 million, with contractor Reynolds Construction Company having started work on the 1.8km structure in 2011. Spanning the River Benue, the bridge forms part of the 108km road link connecting Otukpo with Oweto and improves transport connections between Benue State and Nasarawa State. Work on a stretch of the road has been carried CGC Nigeria Limited.
