A Chinese contractor is to build a major expressway link in Nigeria. The contract is for a 15km section of highway. The work will be handled by 890 China Railway Construction.
Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council, (FEC) is giving its approval for an upgrade of the road running from Akwanga to Gombe. The 421km section of the A3 runs between Akwanga, Jos, Bauchi and Gombe and provides an important link between the centre of the country and Nigeria’s north east. A budget of US$973.6 million has been set for the work, which is expected to take four years to complete. The work involves widening the existing two lane highway into a dual carriageway with two lanes in either direction
A new programme of works planned by the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) will see the upgrading and surfacing of 372km of roads in the country. The ERA signed a series of contracts with a number of construction firms, both from Ethiopia and from overseas. The firms that will handle the road building activity are; Ethiopian Defense Construction, China Railway Engineering, China Wuyi, Eney Construction, Yotek Construction and FAL General Contractor.
