A Chinese contractor is to build a major expressway link in Nigeria. The contract is for a 15km section of highway. The work will be handled by 890 China Railway Construction.
Chinese companies are to take part in a number of motorway construction projects in Serbia, according to the country’s ministry of construction and urbanism. The routes will cover a combined 190km and follow the Serbian government’s December 2012 signing of a pre-contract deal for the construction of the Lajkovac-Ljig and Obrenovac-Ub sections of the Corridor 11 motorway, worth US$333 million, with the representatives of the Chinese firm Shandong High Speed Corporation. Strabag is to modernise nearly 15km of the D1 motorway in the Czech Republic under a contract worth nearly €73 million.
Work includes complete renewal of the cement concrete surface between Velký Beranov and Měřín to be done within three years.
Working on the project are the consortium leader Strabagm based in Austria, and its two partner companies Metrostav and EUROVIA’s Czech subsidiary.

South Korean company Daewoo E&C will carry out upgrading and widening of a major expressway in Qatar. The US$590 million contract is focussing on widening a 4.5km stretch of the E-Ring expressway, as well as building 4km of connecting roads and three large intersections. The work on the intersections will be particularly complex as these will feature multiple levels.
