A Chinese contractor is to build a major expressway link in Nigeria. The contract is for a 15km section of highway. The work will be handled by 890 China Railway Construction.
A series of major highway projects are now being planned in the Philippines. The largest of this most recent set of highway projects to be announced is for the US$1.24 billion NLEx-Cavitex Port Expressway Link put forward. Measuring 15km the route would be constructed featuring four lanes. This proposed link would connect the Cavite Expressway and North Luzon Expressway in Metro Manila. The proposal for the project has been made by Manila North Tollways, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investments.
The authorities in Kenya have signed an agreement with a Chinese contractor for a major highway project. The deal is for design and feasibility studies for this proposed highway, which would run from Ruaka to Gitaru. The 16.5km highway section would form part of Nairobi’s Western Bypass, should the project get the official go ahead once the feasibility study has been completed and analysed. Bolivia is looking to source funding for two major highway projects from China. This development could follow discussions between Bolivia's vice-president Alvaro Garcia Linera and Chinese funding bodies being held during his trip to China. The highways in focus are the links from Porvenir to Chive and from Chive to Ixiamas. The 151km Porvenir to Chive highway is expected to cost around US$385 million to construct.
