A Chinese contractor is to build a major expressway link in Nigeria. The contract is for a 15km section of highway. The work will be handled by 890 China Railway Construction.

    Chinese firms are to carry out three major road projects in Tanzania. The projects were awarded by the Tanzanian Government and are worth close to US$160 million in all. The companies are China Railway Seventh Group Company, Sichuan Road and Bridge (Group) Corporation and China Henan International Cooperation Company. The projects include the 65.5km road connecting Mangaka and Mtambaswala, as well as the 88km road from Mela to Bonga and the 99.35km road from Mayamaya to Mela. The work is due for completion
  • Spanish firms interested in US$740mn Chile bridge project

    Spanish companies Sacyr, ACS and OHL will take part in three of the consortia that will bid in the US$740 million contract to build the longest suspension bridge in Chile. Works for the 2.5km Chacao Bridge, connecting the island of Chiloe and Chile's coast line, are expected to be awarded during the first quarter of 2014, with construction due to begin in 2015.

    All six consortia that submitted documents in May to design and build a fourth bridge over the Panama Canal have pre-qualified, according to media reports. The companies officially vying for the estimated US$1 billion contract are: • Dragados • Consorcio CCB: Constructora Norberto Odebrecht, Odebrecht Engenharia e Construcao International • Consorcio Hyundai, Sacyr JV • Consorcio Astaldi – Daelim • Consorcio Panamá Cuarto Puente: China Communications Contruction Company, China Harbour Engi
