In other news, the1009 New Zealand Transport Agency options to improve traffic flow at the intersection of Girven Road and Maunganui Road in the Bay of Plenty are said to include the building of a flyover for almost NZD 100million and a signalised intersection for NZD 40 million. The Agency is hoping to make a final decision by the end of 2012 and start construction before the Eastern Arterial road costing NZD 455 million is completed in 2015/2016 fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the Welcome Bay underpass costing NZD 67 million, which will enable motorists to go directly to the Hairini causeway, is scheduled to start construction at the end of 2014. The design and approval phase is expected to take 18 months.
