New US$341.2mn Polish motorway construction contract awarded to Impreglio

Italian civil engineering company Impregilo, through Poland-based subsidiary Salini Polska, and Polish firm Kobylarnia has been awarded a US$341.2 million (€250mn) contract to build a stretch of Poland’s A1 motorway. The near 75km route will link the towns of Torun and Strykow, and is expected to be completed within a year.

    Construction of a 15.2km section of Poland’s A1 motorway has attracted 11 bids. A Strabag consortium made the lowest bid for the section, between Pyrzowice and Rzasawa, coming in at €146 million. A consortium formed by Polaqua and Dragados was the second lowest, at €156.4 million. The highest bid was €183.4 million. The contract calls for a construction period of 30 months.     A US$452 million highway upgrade project will be carried out in India by the contractor, Ashoka Mallasandra Karadi Road. This firm is a subsidiary of Indian company Dilip Buildcon. The work involves upgrading a section of the existing NH206 route and widening it so that it features two lanes in either direction. The highway stretch being worked on is from Shivamogga to Tumkur.
