New US$341.2mn Polish motorway construction contract awarded to Impreglio

Italian civil engineering company Impregilo, through Poland-based subsidiary Salini Polska, and Polish firm Kobylarnia has been awarded a US$341.2 million (€250mn) contract to build a stretch of Poland’s A1 motorway. The near 75km route will link the towns of Torun and Strykow, and is expected to be completed within a year.

    Polish regional government of the Podlaskie Voivodeship has granted a permit for the construction of a ringroad in Augustow. Weather permitting, the US$207.52 million (PLN 659mn) project in the north-east Poland town may commence before the end of 2012 and is to be completed by September 2014. The new road will be 36.3km long and avoid the Nature 2000 protected area.

    Italian civil engineering group Astaldi is expecting to obtain a €1.7 billion contract from Russia that would see them build a 140km stretch of the Moscow-St Petersburg motorway. Astaldi chairman Paolo Astaldi said that the deal for lots seven and eight of the motorway is “probable”. Astaldi is in a consortium with Turkish partner Ictas, with which it has already banked deals in Russia. The contract will be awarded by the motorway concessionaires, VTB and Vinci.
