New road network upgrades for Algeria

The authorities in Algeria are planning major road network upgrades for the country’s Sétif Region. Some US$387.5 million has been budgeted for a programme of works that will see a series of major improvements to National roads that connect Sétif Region to Constantine, Bejaïa and M'sila. The Sétif Region has a road network comprising some 3,560km in total.

The authorities have revealed that the new infrastructure programme calls for the addition of a further 1,500km of highways. To achieve this, a budget of some US$24.17 billion has been set for the 2014-2015 period.   • Ring road upgrade for Bucharest

    Plans are in hand in Romania for the upgrades to the Bucharest ring road. This work is due to be completed by 2014, according to the country’s Transport Ministry.     The Hungarian national road management firm Magyar Kozut (MK) began road upgrade projects worth US$ 171.38 million (HUF 38bn) in 2012. The upgraded highways covered a total length of 360km. Development projects were carried out in line with the country's Regional Development Operational Programme (ROP) as part of Hungary's New Szechenyi Plan (USZT). Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that around $496.78 million (HUF 110bn) has been allocated for road renovation works in total by the end of 2013.
