A new highway project is underway in China

A financial package worth US$793 million is being provided by Chinese firm CDB Leasing for a highway project expansion programme in China’s Henan province. Henan currently has 5,196km of highways in use. The plan is to expand the network to more than 6,600km in 2015.

A budget of close to US$24.9 billion has been set for the construction of 11 highways in Guizhou Province. One of the priority projects will be the construction of a new highway connecting Anshun with Duyun. In all the highways will measure a total length of around 1,000km.     A colossal road construction plan has been revealed by China’s Yunnan Province. The authorities have revealed that the new infrastructure programme calls for the addition of a further 1,500km of highways. To achieve this, a budget of some US$24.17 billion has been set for the 2014-2015 period. With this road development programme in place the authorities have estimated that by the end of 2015 the province will have a highway network comprising some 4,500km in total.
