New conference plans for European road directors

Plans are in hand for the Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR). This event is now run every four years, with this next CEDR conference being the third to be held. Plans are in hand for the Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR). This event is now run every four years, with this next CEDR conference being the third to be held. The governing board for CEDR held a meeting in Helsinki and the Road Directors’ association reviewed the final report on the implementation of ITS previous strategic Plan and the formalisation of ITS next. The CEDR strategic Plan 3 (SP3) is to develop the priorities and targets for ITS next cycle.  Each SP determines the structuring and activities of various task groups and SP3 is structured around three thematic domains; Innovation, Strategy and Network Management. A coordinator for each of these is appointed from one of the 29 national road authorities in CEDR. The CEDR office based in La Defense in Paris, led by the new secretary general, Steve Phillips, who provides the core coordination and support function. CEDR will also remain one of the core stakeholder organisations supporting the 1109 Transport Research Arena (TRA) conference that will be held in April 2014 next door to the CEDR premises. CEDR members have hosted each TRA event since the launch in 2006 and look forward to a long and productive cooperation with the 2465 European Commission and transport Technology Platform stakeholders from the road, rail and waterborne sectors.
