Construction work is proceeding on track with the erection of a new bridge over the Ohio River in the US. Building work on this US$81 million project began in March 2012 and is expected to be completed by 2015. 5978 Brayman Construction Corporation is building the new Ironton-Russell Bridge, which will replace an existing structure spanning the Ohio River.

5979 Finley Engineering Group is providing bridge construction engineering services to Brayman Construction Corporation for the project, which will provide a link between Second and Jefferson streets in downtown Ironton and the US 23 viaduct south of Russell.

The project also includes demolition of the existing bridge upon completion of the new structure. The new bridge was originally scheduled to be built in 2007 but the date was pushed back to 2013 due to State funding issues. Finley provided pre-bid engineering services which included development of a construction sequence that will cast the back spans on falsework. The falsework system can support all construction equipment required for the pylons and deck, minimising the need for marine operations.

Additionally, FINLEY designed an innovative precast stay anchor block system that will simplify stay cable anchorage placement, speed up segment construction and simplify the form traveler system by eliminating the need for a temporary stay anchorage.
