230 Hidromek is offering an improved excavator series and plans to introduce a new top-of-the-range machine later this year. Export manager Anil Bingöl said, “We are preparing a 50tonne class machine.” He added that this will be offered with a Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB emissions rating only, although full specifications of the machine have yet to be revealed.

The new 50tonne class excavator will benefit from the latest Hidromek telematics package, which uses satellite communications to provide a continuous flow of performance data for customers. The information will be available in real time for fleet managers, to analyse operating parameters, provide GPS location and also to identify any technical problems and allow remote trouble-shooting. The new machine will share some features with the existing 38tonne class HMK370LC excavator, which is available in Tier 3/Stage IIIA and Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB variants only. Bingöl explained that while Hidromek does have an extensive customer base in markets such as the Middle East and Russia, its customers have not suffered fuel quality issues that would require Tier 2 variants of the machines. An intermediate machine that will slot into the range between the 50tonne and 38tonne excavators is planned for the future.
