Myanmar project deal

Work on the Myanmar section of the Stilwell Road will be carried out by Chinese contractor Yunnan Construction Engineering Group (YCEG). The deal is worth some US$498 million and the project is for a 375km stretch of highway. YCEG will carry out the project in partnership with the Yuzana Group. The deal is of note as it will improve Myanmar's international links with its neighbours.

    Austrian contractor Strabag will lead the consortium constructing a stretch of the S7 expressway in Poland. Strabag is teaming up with Heilit+Woerner for the project to build the Trasa Nowohucka section of the S7 linking Rybitwy and Igołomska and lying to the east of Kraków.     In Papua New Guinea (PNG) work is now commencing on two key road projects wortha total of US$263 million. Chinese contractors have been awarded the deals to build a four-lane road between Nadzab and Lae and a a 20km road between Kagual Bridge and Kisenopoi Junction. China Railway International (CRI) and China Machinery Engineering Corp (CMEC) will carry out the two projects respectively.
