Tough simplicity from MTG
Multinational wear parts manufacturer 7159 MTG is using 688 Bauma to launch a new range of hammerless front bucket protectors for its ProMet system. The new designs feature a series of innovations and improvements that include a wider range of available products, both for excavators (38 new references) and for loaders (6 new references) depending on the different blade thicknesses and shroud widths. The new MTG ProMet II improves the previous models by having one single upper base instead of two, allowing the allocation of more wear material in the front part of the shroud and thus increasing its wear life, improving penetration, extending the bucket life and reducing machine downtimes. Each new ProMet II size is available in three formats for the bucket lip: Central, Left and Right, with specific angles designed to cover the needs of the main markets. The new ProMet II is perfectly compatible with all new MTG’s StarMet adaptors. MTG will be presenting the full range of available ProMet and StarMet models at Bauma Munich 2013.

MTG, which specialises in the manufacture of teeth, adapters, protectors, and locking devices for earth-moving machinery will also be displaying its new optimised solution for electric cable shovels. The adapter, commonly known as “whisler” is made with highly resistant MTG Steels and can be combined with an extensive range of MTG’s teeth, including the new teeth MA500RS and MA500RSX, which have been especially designed for its use on electric cable shovels. The new adapter will come on stream in the middle of 2013, just as the group’s new factory in Spain gets underway.

MTG will also have a range of four new construction sizes and five new teeth designs for its hammerless StarMet system. With sizes 15, 20, 30 and 40 now coming to market at Bauma, all designed for construction and with EX, A and U designs available on size 180 and the design EX on sizes 240 and 500, MTG will complete its wear part product range for the construction and mining industries. The new StarMet sizes 15, 20, 30 and 40 are available for the most popular MTG designs and their key innovation is that they offer the lightest and shortest tooth nose available on the market. They incorporate the new Bilateral MTGTwist fixing system (both the retainer and the pin can be assembled on both sides of the adapter)* which allows the user to introduce the pin through the most convenient side.

And, not to be found wanting online, MTG will also show off the first iPad application for wear parts in the earthmoving sector at the show. The new app will provide data that is fully and quickly accessible from any location, organised and segmented by user group. It will allow easy and direct access to the MTG support, sales and local distribution teams and offer a powerful gallery comprising a wide range of presentations, support docs, as well as images and videos of MTG’s products working on site. There will also be an updated “What’s new” section containing the latest file uploads, most popular user downloads and corporate news.

Putzmeister has added a five-section 38m, 160m3/hr concrete pump, which can be used to place loads inside buildings some 3m higher than the four-section option. Built on a 26tonne chassis, the new 38.5 can reach heights of 31m while leaving the final boom section to pass inside the building. In common with the company’s other machines, the 38.5 now has outrigger sensing, which feeds into the control system and prevents the boom from extending/slewing if the outriggers are not fully deployed.
