Mozambique’s road network is to receive international funding for various projects. The 304km road connecting Cuamba and Lichinga in Niassa province will be improved under the plan.
In China’s Sichuan Province the city of Mianyang intends to invest over US$1 billion in its transportation network during 2012. The investment will be split between rural road construction, national-provincial trunk highway construction and highway construction. The plans also call for 800km of rural roads and 200km roads between townships and counties. The Yarga to Kalewa road link connecting Myanmar and India is set for a major upgrade, following discussions between the two nations. The project will be managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which will handle the role of as Technical Executing Agency. The work is expected to cost US$181.5 million and the project forms part of a wider plan to improve road connections between India, Myanmar and Thailand.
