Mozambique’s road network is to receive international funding for various projects. The 304km road connecting Cuamba and Lichinga in Niassa province will be improved under the plan.
Morocco’s road network development programme is continuing, with new local roads, trunk roads and motorways being planned. Morocco’s Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics has said a budget of US$9.84 billion is being set to construct 5,500km of roads in the country. The plans call for the building of 3,400km of motorways and a further 2,100km of trunk roads. A road design study is now being carried out for Latvian capital Riga. The study will evaluate solutions for connecting parts of the city and its port to the main Latvian highway network. The study will be part-funded by the EU’s TEN-T Programme, which is providing close to €1.8 million. The project will be completed by the 31st December 2015 and involves the construction of a new link to the Freeport of Riga that will carry heavy goods vehicles, reducing traffic volumes and congestion in the historic city

The authorities in Russian city St Petersburg plan to solve the problem of traffic jams in the city during the next few years. The strategy is expected to be achieved through road building and the improvement of transport connections between different districts in the city.
