Morocco will invest US$765 million in expanding its motorway network between 2025 and 2027. By 2030, Morocco intends to have a motorway network extending 3,000km in total, compared with 2,000km at present.

The motorway network is managed by Société nationale des autoroutes du Maroc (ADM), which has set out the expansion plans. According to ADM, traffic volumes on the network increased by 8% for 2023 compared to 2022 and are continuing to grow.

One of the key projects is the new Rabat-Casablanca Continental Motorway construction project. Building this new 60km motorway is intended to reduce congestion on the existing route between the two cities, Morocco’s capital and its largest city and economic centre respectively. The bidding process for the project is being managed by ADM and the new link is expected to cost $889 million to construct.

Once complete the Rabat-Casablanca Continental Motorway will run between the Tamesna Junction on the Rabat Bypass and the Casablanca South Ring Road at Tit Mellil.
