Montenegro and Bosnia co-operate on highway

Montenegro is to start work on a new highway project in cooperation with neighbouring Bosnia. The countries will work together on the Podgorica-Sarajevo highway and the two projects will be discussed by the governments of both countries soon. Meanwhile in nearby Serbia, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has held discussion with the World Bank (WB) regarding a new loan of €100 million for construction of the Corridor 10 motorway.

RSSMontenegro is to start work on a new highway project in cooperation with neighbouring Bosnia. The countries will work together on the Podgorica-Sarajevo highway and the two projects will be discussed by the governments of both countries soon. Meanwhile in nearby Serbia, the 5251 Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has held discussion with the 2332 World Bank (WB) regarding a new loan of €100 million for construction of the Corridor 10 motorway.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide a loan of €166 million to part finance the project.     The Sarajevo Ring Road in Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to be completed by October 2012. The construction of the 5.6km long highway from Josanica to Butila is being carried out by a consortium of companies made up of HP Investing and Strabag AG. The completed Ring Road will be part of the future Corridor Vc motorway.

    Discussions between Serbia and Bosnia regarding the planned highway linking the two countries have yet to be carried out. The highway will join the two capitals, Belgrade and Sarajevo. However Turkey has said it will not enter discussions regarding its providing financing for the project until Bosnia and Serbia have determined the route the new highway will take. Turkey says that it recognises the economic importance of this highway for the region as a whole, which is why it is willing to discuss financing.
