1228 Moba Mobile Automation, based in Limburg, Germany, has formed an earthmoving division concentrating on Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Moba develops and manufactures measurement and control technology, identification and weighing systems for construction machines and waste disposal vehicles. Andreas Velten, head of the division, said the move means Moba can provide optimal service and support at regional level, particularly for small and medium-sized construction companies and construction machinery dealers. Many larger earthwork projects such as motorways and embankments are already planned and created digitally in 3D. For these particular tasks, Moba supplies 3D machine controllers for excavators, dozers and graders.

The introduction of the Earthworks for Motor Graders package offers a GNSS-based, 3D grade control system that makes fine grading more accurate, faster and easier. This utilises the same hardware as the firm’s existing excavator and dozer packages, with IMU units featuring inertial measurement technology fitted to key moving components on the machine. These provide three axis tracking of operations Scott Crozier, general manager for Trimble's Civil Engineering and Construction Division said, “It’s the thir

Trimble is offering new advances in machine control technology – Mike Woof writes An important technology advance from Trimble is now coming from its expanding range of EarthWorks machine control systems. These systems can help deliver more efficient earthmoving operations, increasing productivity while maintaining accuracy. The first EarthWorks system was developed for use with excavators and this latest system is designed to be used with dozers, utilising much of the same hardware. Meanwhile, other Ea
