MOBA's sophisticated excavator control system
1228 MOBA is now offering a sophisticated excavator control package that has been developed in partnership with Finnish firm 734 Novatron. The package has been developed along modular lines and the firm’s marketing manager Christine Seidel said, “Once the sensors are installed in the excavator you can start off with the low cost system and upgraded it later.”

The basic package is a 2D system while a sophisticated 3D version with full function options is available. The simple Xsite EASY package can measures excavation depth, incline and range and displays all current values on the display in the vehicle cab. Using these parameters, the operator can control the bucket and accurately create the desired profile even in construction sites with limited visibility. The height monitor increases safety at the construction site, as the system warns the operator of impending contact with overhead lines. “It’s all sealed so you can also use it underwater,” Seidel said.

For more complex tasks the Xsite PRO package offers a wide range of 3D duties. Project data can be transmitted from the office to the system through the Internet connection and the system can use all common data formats. The GNSS positioning data is collected automatically and using a digital 3D terrain model, work can be monitored closely on the touch-screen panel. For positioning the machine, Xsite PRO only requires one GNSS sensor, while two GNSS sensors will provide machine orientation.
