Minnesota's key road plans

The US state of Minnesota has plans for a total of 258 road construction and improvement projects in hand.

The US state of Minnesota has plans for a total of 258 road construction and improvement projects in hand. The work is expected to cost a total of US$900 million during the 2011 financial year, compared with $1.3 billion in 2010. The projects budgeted for in 2011 include replacing Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge, repaving a 6.4km stretch of I-94 from the St Paul city limit to city-centre Minneapolis, a repair programme on I-35 motorway north of Minneapolis/St, and repair works on I-494 and I-169. However, the budget for the 2010 financial year did include funding from federal stimulus programmes.

    Bolivia's state-owned road operator Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras (ABC) has an ambitious road building programme. This will see the construction of a further 3,172km of roads, of which almost 1,000km will be completed in 2015. The 1,000km of roads on track for completion comprise some 16 projects in seven departments. ABC has budgeted US$1.17 billion for its programme of works, an increase over the $995.4 million for the previous financial year.

    Major highway and bridge projects are commencing in China. Work is starting on a highway project at Baise city in Guangxi Province as well as on the Malantun section of the Xintai-Tai'erzhuang highway in Shandong Province. The Baise city project is being carried out by the CEEG Gezhouba Group and the deal is worth some US$3.94 billion.
