A new road contract worth close to US$296 million is planned for the Mexican state of Veracruz.

A new road contract worth close to US$296 million is planned for the Mexican state of Veracruz. The work will be carried out by local company 2704 Grupo Mexicano de Desarrollo (GMD), through its subsidiary company 2706 GMD Ingenieria y Construccion. The project involves work to 734.6km of roads and will take seven years to complete.

    Spanish construction firm OHL presented an offer to operate the 56km Guadalajara-Colima motorway in Mexico for 12 years. The motorway is being heavily restructured, with the expansion of its four lanes. The first phase of these works has already been completed and investment to date has totalled US $54.81million.   • Mexican highway projects underway

    The Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT) has confirmed that a total of 1,474 road infrastructure contracts were granted in the first half of 2015. This work is costing in the region of US$1.02 billion. A total of 74% of these contracts were awarded to Mexican companies, whilst 26% corresponded to foreign firms. SCT informed that 31 projects were concluded so far in 2015 and added that 12 additional initiatives were expected to be completed by the end of the year.
