Work is now commencing on a new highway megaproject in China. The 204km highway will be built in China’s Hebei Province and will cost around US$4.09 billion to construct. The project forms part of a network of expressways in Chengzhang.
China’s Hebei Province is planning a series of transport infrastructure improvements during 2019. Highway construction will be amongst the works being prioritised under the plan, which has a budget of over US$8 billion. In all, 1,172km of highway will be built in the province under the programme of works. During 2019, work will commence on six new highway stretches with a total length of 332km. A 217km stretch of highway under construction already will be opened to traffic in 2019, while work is continuing
A series of key road and highway projects will boost China’s network. A series of rural roads will be constructed in Tibet autonomous region, with the investment totalling some US$1.9 billion. The plan is to build a total of 24,157km of rural roads and the investment will be made from 2012-2013. Meanwhile work is also commencing on a new highway in Fujian Province. China’s new longest highway is due to be completed by the end of June 2014. Around 97% of Xinjiang region's 428.9km Aksu-Kashgar highway is said to have been completed to date. The new route will eventually cost just over US$2 billion (CNY 12.3 billion) and is scheduled to open at the end of September 2014.
China’s Hebei province plans to spend US$3.47 billion (CNY 21.6 billion) in 2014 to build and maintain rural and normal trunk roads. Rural roads will receive CNY 7.5 billion, normal trunk roads CNY 9.1 billion and road network optimisation CNY 5 billion.
Meanwhile, the Chinese city of Yibin will this year invest more than $1.61 billion (CNY 10 billion) in transport projects. During 2014, Yibin plans to spend a total of $6.59 billion (CNY 40.7 billion) on 157 major projects. They include 58 basic infrastruc
