Work is now commencing on a new highway megaproject in China. The 204km highway will be built in China’s Hebei Province and will cost around US$4.09 billion to construct. The project forms part of a network of expressways in Chengzhang.
In China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Zhejiang Province and Hunan Province, major infrastructure investment plans are being drawn up for 2013. In the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, an investment of US$17.7 billion will be made on transportation development. This will include work on four airports as well as building five highways with a combined length of 363km during the year. New Zealand’s Transport Ministry has announced plans for a US$10.3 billion program to improve public transport and roads. Under the three-year plan, authorities for the public transport system, state highways and local roads will receive $1.36 billion, $4.09 billion and $3.29 billion, respectively, for upgrades.
A major highway project is now underway in China. Construction work has commenced for the 169km Huzhou stretch of the Hangzhou City Highway. This section of the new route will feature 19 interchanges as well as four service area. In all the work is expected to cost US$6.55 billion to construct.
Major plans for infrastructure investment have been set out by the authorities in China’s Gansu Province. In all some US$79.9 billion is planned to be spent over the next six years. One of the key aims of this infrastructure programme is to improve China’s transport links with Central Asia.
