Perhaps understandably, nuclear density gauges can present contractors with some order to move them at all. “One of the problems with nuclear soil gauges is the restrictions on movement,” said John Lamond, Manufacturing. “If you are a contractor projects cross-border, it’s a real challenge to move a nuclear density gauge around.”
Benninghoven has launched a new mobile asphalt plant, the MBA 2000, with five rather than four screens and a capacity of up to 160 tonnes an hour. The addition of a fifth screen has come in response to customer needs, said Benninghoven’s director of marketing Lars Henrich. “Having five screens as standard means that customers can have much more flexibility in the recipes they produce,” said Henrich.

Based in Montana, contractor Century Companies is now benefiting from an updated fleet of asphalt paving machines from Volvo CE. The company has operated Volvo CE’s Blaw-Knox pavers for many years and also has two Blaw-Knox PF510s, two PF3200s and a PF410 as well as Volvo DD70, DD118 and DD25B double drum compactors. However it has now added two of the 3m class P7110 tracked machines to its fleet. These were used on a job some 16km from the North Dakota border on the periphery of the Bakken Formation. This
