Malaysia’s New North Klang Straits Bypass highway may be up for sale

The New North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB) in Malaysia may be up for sale following a newspaper advertisement placed by the liquidators, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Advisory Services. The advertisement invites qualified investors to send an expression of interest to buy the assets and concession rights to multi-lane dual carriageway. Lebuhraya Shapadu secured a concession deal in 1995 to operate the 17.5km highway for 25 years.

The New North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB) in Malaysia may be up for sale following a newspaper advertisement placed by the liquidators, 1391 PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Advisory Services.

The advertisement invites qualified investors to send an expression of interest to buy the assets and concession rights to multi-lane dual carriageway.

Lebuhraya Shapadu secured a concession deal in 1995 to operate the 17.5km highway for 25 years. The company started toll collection on the route in 2002 after construction was delayed due to economic crisis in 1997 and protests from villagers affected by the highway project

Furthermore, the cost of building the highway was MYR 570mn (EUR 143.92mn USD 183.66mn). The highway links North Port to Klang's Bukit Raja in Selangor state. The concession for the highway will expire in 2020
