Malaysian shopping centre parking police

In Malaysia, the government has introduced supplementary police officer services in shopping centres in a bid to cut vehicle crimes in their car parks. The service will be introduced in Suria KLCC, Pavilion, Tropicana City Mall and Sunway Pyramid shopping centres.

In Malaysia, the government has introduced supplementary police officer services in shopping centres in a bid to cut vehicle crimes in their car parks.

The service will be introduced in Suria KLCC, Pavilion, Tropicana City Mall and Sunway Pyramid shopping centres.

The government has also introduced a ‘Car Park League Table’, which rates shopping centres' parking areas according to the level of safety they offer. Among the categories to be evaluated are lighting, panic buttons and overall security.

The data shows that over 100,000 drivers and passengers were detected for not wearing seatbelts. A total of 24 countries took part in the operation, which was co-ordinated by TISPOL.     A recent Pan-European police operation to enforce laws on speeding has yielded major success. Over 720,000 drivers were detected breaking speed limits in the operation, which was co-orcinated by the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) in 28 countries. Of the 728,268 detections, 274,355 were made directly by police officers and 453,913 came from automatic speed detectors.
