The Malacca state government in Malaysia will spend US$196.75 million (MYR 612.30mn) to build and improve roads in the state. The budget will develop 73 road projects that will connect more places within the state.
In Malaysia the government is setting aside a budget for a major package of road construction works in Sabah. The three new road upgrades will help ease traffic congestion at peak periods and the Works Ministry plans to open the tender process shortly. Some US$ 196.5 million will be spent on improving the 42km road that connects Jalan Dongongon and Simpang Papar. A budget of $140.8 million has been set for upgrades to the 81.5km road connecting Tawau and Semporna.
A total of US$1.01 billion (MXN 12.91bn) will be allocated from Mexico’s 2013 federal budget for 783 road work projects across 31 states. Chiapas will receive the largest amount at $73.64 million (MXN 940mn) for 64 projects-; followed by Guerrero’s $69.8 million (MXN 891mn) - and Hidalgo $63.92 million (MXN 816mn). The road work projects do not include any works planned for Mexico City.
New Zealand will spend US$30 billion over the next decade on public transport, including road works not just in major urban areas but in the provinces.
The announcement was made by Transport Minister Simon Bridges after the government approved the draft Government Policy Paper 2015.
The approved document takes into consideration concerns by local government that their transport infrastructure needs would be ignored in favour of those for large urban areas, the New Zealand Herald newspaper reported.
The Brazilian state government of Parana has spent around US$1.73 billion on infrastructure projects over the past four years, including roads, railways, airports, ports and public buildings.
According to Jose Richa Filho, the state’s infrastructure secretary, more investments will be made by local partners and through international financing. Around $3.63 million for road works between 2015 and 2018 with fund coming from partnerships with Votorantim and Klabin.
