A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
Vietnam’s Quang Ninh Province is setting out plans for major infrastructure projects. One project will be for a new tunnel link running under Cua Luc Bay, while the road projects are for the Ha Long-Cam Pha coastal route and the Van Don-Mong Cai Highway.
Construction of the 1.3km undersea tunnel project in Ha Long city is now subject to a feasibility study. Construction is expected to commence in 2019.
Indonesia has a massive programme of road development aimed at expanding the country’s toll road network. The plan calls for no less than 2,500km of toll roads to be built over the next five years. In all the work is expected to cost anything from US$16.5 billion up to as much as $24.74 billion. To pay for the works, a variety of financing methods are being used, with PPPs, loans and international firms being involved.
