A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections
Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
Volvo Construction Equipment says growth in mature markets is the biggest contribution to its 10% sales increase in the first quarter of 2014, compared to the same three months of last year. The first three months of this year saw improved earnings on the back of increased sales, deliveries and order intake. Construction will commence on a major highway project in Colombia in the first quarter of 2016. The project for the Pacifico 1 road will be carried out by Colombian construction consortium Concesionaria Vial del Pacifico (Covipacifico). The commencement of construction is dependent on environmental licenses and land purchases however. The construction work will take five years to compete. Malaysia’s Lebuh Raya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2), highway is expected to open for traffic by September 2014. A series of delays have held back work on the 184km highway, although the 72km Bukit Besi-Kuala Terengganu section has been open since the third quarter of 2011. Some of the delays can be attributed to price increases in the cost of materials, which caused problems for contractors involved with the project.
