A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
In the Philippines a plan is taking shape for a major new connection between key tolled highways. The new road will link the South Luzon Expressway with the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx). The route has been planned by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) and the Philippine National Construction (PNCC). The new road connection will measure 13.4km long and will be a four-lane expressway. The project is expected to cost some US$521.5 million.
In the US State of Virginia plans are now moving forward for construction of the US$460 tolled highway. This 88km route will connect Petersburg and Suffolk and will cost $1.4 billion to construct. A consortium headed by Spanish firm Ferrovial Agroman has qualified to handle the design, build, finance deal for the project. A major road project is being carried out in Cambodia to improve the transport link between the capital Phnom Penh and the port of Sihanoukville in Preah Sihanouk Province. Work on the 190km road project will cost in the region of US$1.9 billion and should take four years to complete.
