A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
A feasibility study has been completed for a new six-lane highway linking the Algerian port of Oran with the East-West highway. The preliminary study was carried out by Canadian company SM International while the feasibility study was undertaken by French firm INGEROP International. Work is now being carried out on three major road projects in Qatar. The work is worth over US$2.58 billion in all. One project is for an upgrade to the North Road corridor. In all the work is expected to require US$9.59 billion and is for six highway projects, with one in Kalimantan and five in Java. The project in Kalimantan is for the Bontang-Samarinda Highway. In Java the highway projects are for links from Cileunyi-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap stretching 183km, Bawen-Yogyakarta, Kamal-Balaraja-Teluknaga stretching 48.3km, Semanan-Balaraja stretching 31.7km and Semarang-Demak.
