Major highway investment for Indonesia with key project on track

Work on Indonesia’s landmark Trans-Sumatera Toll highway is set to commence in 2013. The contractor Hutama Karya has been awarded the deal to carry out the project. There will be a total 24 toll roads to be constructed on the route by the state-owned construction firm. Meanwhile Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works has projected that overseas funding for its infrastructure projects in 2014 will be nearly US$784 million, similar to the figure set for 2013. Work on Indonesia’s landmark Trans-Sumatera Toll highway is set to commence in 2013. The contractor 5206 Hutama Karya has been awarded the deal to carry out the project. There will be a total 24 toll roads to be constructed on the route by the state-owned construction firm. Meanwhile Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works has projected that overseas funding for its infrastructure projects in 2014 will be nearly US$784 million, similar to the figure set for 2013. Projects for funding in 2014 include several community-based projects, the Tran-East Sumatra Road as well as the Manado Ring II project. And state-owned construction firm, Waskita Karya says that it hopes to win five major projects including one for the Timor Leste road connection.

    Construction firm Hutama Karya (HK) of Indonesia says it will next year begin to build the US $ 34.3 billion (IDR 330trn) 2,700km long Trans-Sumatra toll road. Phase 1 of the project will be carried out by the company and a subsidiary, Jalan Tol Hutama Karya, will be set up to work on the project, said Ari Widiyantoro, corporate secretary of HK.
