Lombardini boosts KDi engine output towards 100kW

Lombardini is moving ever closer to offering a 100kW engine as part of its strategy to grow the Kohler KDi series above the 56kW maximum output that currently sits at the top of its range. “We have developed a 3.4litre, four-cylinder engine that will take us to 100kW,” said Lombardini’s marketing and communications manager Nino De Giglio. “The engine is currently being tested and will go into production towards the end of 2014.” De Giglio said the arrival of the new 100kW engine, with its 480Nm of torque, c

Lombardini will break the 100kW barrier when its 3.4litre KDi engine goes into production in 2014
2277 Lombardini is moving ever closer to offering a 100kW engine as part of its strategy to grow the 2278 Kohler KDi series above the 56kW maximum output that currently sits at the top of its range.

“We have developed a 3.4litre, four-cylinder engine that will take us to 100kW,” said Lombardini’s marketing and communications manager Nino De Giglio. “The engine is currently being tested and will go into production towards the end of 2014.”

De Giglio said the arrival of the new 100kW engine, with its 480Nm of torque, could allow OEMs to downsize.

“With its high power density, we expect our new 3.4litre KDi engine to be attractive to OEMs looking to downsize from 4.4litre engines and seek out higher fuel efficiency,” he said.

  • ZF chooses radial motor technology for its hydrostatic transmission
    April 18, 2013
ZF has chosen a pair of radial hydraulic motors for use in its compact single-speed hydrostatic transmission, the 2HC85, which has been developed for compact wheeled loaders up to 100kW and 10.5tonnes operating weight. For high-torque start-up, the transmission sends oil to both motors and demands maximum stroke to travel from 0-16kph, before isolating one motor and then using 100% oil flow through the remaining motor to propel the machine to its maximum travel speed of 42kph. ZF said radial motors afford a

    February 8, 2013
Dressta is offering improved versions of its 560E and 555C Extra wheeled loaders, with new Cummins diesels. Power for the larger 560E Extra now comes from a Cummins QSX15 diesel rated at 319kW, compared with the 310kW of the previous engine in this machine. The six cylinder Cummins engine drives through a torque converter, a three-speed, full powershift, countershaft transmission, front and rear axle drives and conventional differentials.
