Link-Belt unveils the next generation of its RTC-80110 Series II large rough terrain crane series

merican crane builder Link-Belt will be showing off the latest in its line of mid-range rough terrain cranes at Bauma, the RTC-8080 Series II, which offers a fully-powered, four-section, 38.7 m (127 ft) long main boom. The RTC-8080 Series II has a two-mode telescope proportioning system known as A-max and three on-board fly options allow operators to use at least four manual offset positions fixed at 2, 15, 30, and 45 degrees. The latest RTC-80110 rough terrain crane has a 45.7m-long main boom
American crane builder 7240 Link-Belt will be showing off the latest in its line of mid-range rough terrain cranes at 688 Bauma, the RTC-8080 Series II, which offers a fully-powered, four-section, 38.7 m (127 ft) long main boom. The RTC-8080 Series II has a two-mode telescope proportioning system known as A-max and three on-board fly options allow operators to use at least four manual offset positions fixed at 2, 15, 30, and 45 degrees. One of the three on-board fly offerings is a 3-piece, bi-fold lattice fly, which features a 3m-long integrated fly that was first introduced on the RTC-80130 Series II and HTC-3140LB cranes.

The cab and carrier layout allows six points of access to the flat carrier deck and the front and rear lower steps can be folded to avoid damage during transport. As with all Link-Belt small and mid-range rough-terrains, the new unit uses a 4-link rear axle suspension with a “Hydro-Gas Ride” option to reduce what Link-Belt describes as the bouncing that plagues conventional rough terrain crane suspension systems. Another benefit of the 4-link suspension is superior access to the bottom of the engine, says the manufacturer, which is a 201kW 196 Cummins QSB 6.7L Tier 4i diesel.

A direct-mount power shift transmission offers six forward and six reverse speeds and a switch in the operator’s cab controls the four steering modes: independent front, independent rear, all wheel, and diagonal (crab).

Link-Belt will also use the show to unveil the second generation of its large rough terrain RTC-80110 Series II crane, designed to offer added lifting capacities, a tilting operator’s cab and a new on-board fly with extension options. The new machine is a 100-mt rough-terrain crane with a fully-powered, five sectioned, 45.7m main boom. There is a maximum tip height of 76.2 m and the whole unit can be transported on a trailer in two loads with the main load weighing in at less than 42,637.7kg including the boom, both winches, a three-piece fly, and tyres. Without counterweights and outrigger boxes, the RTC-80110 Series II is less than 4.3m tall and 3m wide. From working mode to transport mode, the RTC-80110 Series II can be on its way to its next job in less than an hour, says Link-Belt.

And, finally, Link-Belt will also showcase two of its telescopic crawler cranes at Bauma, the 70-mt TCC-750 and the 100-mt TCC-1100, the latter featuring a five-section, 45.7m-long main boom with Teflon wear pucks to eliminate boom grease.
