Liebherr launching a revised R922 crawler excavator
718 Liebherr is launching a revised R922 crawler excavator, replacing the previous R906 and joining the R918 and R926 in the company’s medium weight line-up. Powered by a Stage IIIB Liebherr diesel engine, developing 105kW (143hp), the R922 weighs in at 22 tonnes and designed as a general purpose civils machine. Using a Dual Circuit Positive Control hydraulic system, the excavator is said to consume less energy than previous models, resulting in fuel savings for the customer. The machine on show will be exhibited with a 2.7m dipper arm and LC undercarriage. However even with 600mm track pads the R922 does not exceed the 3.0m overall width for road transport in Europe.
A 6% increase in lift capacity, greater digging efficiency, reduced emissions and up to 5% lower fuel consumption are the benefits of Case’s new CX470C excavator. The 47 to 50tonne machine has a 9.8litre Stage IIIB engine delivering 270kW at 2,000rpm which contributes to a 5% increase in fuel efficiency and 5% faster cycle times. Some of the savings come from a Boom Economy Control, which automatically reduces engine revs and hydraulic power to the boom when speed and power are not a priority.
The new Loadrite 360° management system has been designed to boost efficiency in quarries by integrating communication across all stages of an order for faster turnarounds and maximised payloads. Loadrite said that the system improves communication throughout the load-out operations. It is aimed at providing quarry managers with the tools they need to get the most from both staff and equipment. Benefits include lower costs per tonne and optimised truck utilisation, said the company.
With an operating weight of 83.8 – 86tonnes, Hitachi’s giant ZX870LCH-5 excavator is said to be built to operate on the most demanding job sites, such as large-scale construction projects and in busy quarries. The model incorporates the HIOS IIIB hydraulic system, said to allow for faster operation with lower fuel consumption and increased front speed. Hyundai has revealed a high-reach demolition spec excavator at Conexpo 2014 this week, based on its 52tonne R520LC-9A. The R520LC-9A DM, as it is to be known, gets a tilting cab and a high-reach configuration that offers a working height of up to 26.1m.
