Liebherr updates its R922 crawler excavator with more power
Liebherr is launching a revised R922 crawler excavator, replacing the previous R906 and joining the R918 and R926 in the company’s medium weight line-up. Powered by a Stage IIIB Liebherr diesel engine, developing 105kW (143hp), the R922 weighs in at 22 tonnes and designed as a general purpose civils machine. Using a Dual Circuit Positive Control hydraulic system, the excavator is said to consume less energy than previous models, resulting in fuel savings for the customer. Liebherr launching a revised R922 crawler excavator
718 Liebherr is launching a revised R922 crawler excavator, replacing the previous R906 and joining the R918 and R926 in the company’s medium weight line-up. Powered by a Stage IIIB Liebherr diesel engine, developing 105kW (143hp), the R922 weighs in at 22 tonnes and designed as a general purpose civils machine. Using a Dual Circuit Positive Control hydraulic system, the excavator is said to consume less energy than previous models, resulting in fuel savings for the customer. The machine on show will be exhibited with a 2.7m dipper arm and LC undercarriage. However even with 600mm track pads the R922 does not exceed the 3.0m overall width for road transport in Europe.
Manitowoc Cranes and Shantui Investment intend to form a new joint venture. This will build mobile cranes in China for both domestic and export markets. The name of the joint venture will be Shantui Manitowoc Crane Company, and it will commence operations once all relevant approvals are received. Japanese engine manufacturer Kubota will use Bauma to announce its plan to build another engine plant in Wuxi City, China for the production of vertical-shaft diesel engines. This facility has 18,000 m2 of manufacturing space and will be a fully-owned subsidiary of Kubota China Holdings Co. Production levels will reach 97,000 engines a year and operations start in 2014. Once opened, Kubota will have 6 manufacturing plants around the world for diesel engines.

Palfinger Platforms has replaced its TKA series access platform with the P300KS. Mounted on a 7.5 tonne truck chassis, the P300KS has a working height of 30m with a maximum outreach to the side or the back of 20.5m. The cage, which offers 540 degrees of rotation, has a maximum load of 350kg.
