Liebherr launching a revised R922 crawler excavator
718 Liebherr is launching a revised R922 crawler excavator, replacing the previous R906 and joining the R918 and R926 in the company’s medium weight line-up. Powered by a Stage IIIB Liebherr diesel engine, developing 105kW (143hp), the R922 weighs in at 22 tonnes and designed as a general purpose civils machine. Using a Dual Circuit Positive Control hydraulic system, the excavator is said to consume less energy than previous models, resulting in fuel savings for the customer. The machine on show will be exhibited with a 2.7m dipper arm and LC undercarriage. However even with 600mm track pads the R922 does not exceed the 3.0m overall width for road transport in Europe.
Liebherr used INTERMAT 2012 to show its new 380 EC-B 16 Litronic flat-top crane. The 380tonne unit tops the 15-model range, which starts from 50tonnes. The new “flagship” can lift loads of up to 3,400kg at its 75m maximum radius. With the Litronic system, the 380 EC-B 16 can provide up to 20% more load lift at the push of a button. This is achieved by integrating the load-moment limiting system, the ABB operating-range limiting system and the MDA machine data evaluation program.

Hidromek is offering an improved excavator series and plans to introduce a new top-of-the-range machine later this year. Export manager Anil Bingöl said, “We are preparing a 50tonne class machine.” He added that this will be offered with a Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB emissions rating only, although full specifications of the machine have yet to be revealed. Liebherr’s compact L506C and L508C wheeled loaders both have a very low overall height, aiding stability and versatility when working in congested site conditions. Weighing 5,180kg and 5,600kg respectively the two loaders offer tipping loads of 3,450kg and 3,850kg. The L506C is powered by a 45kW (61hp) engine and comes with a 0.8m3 bucket, while the L508C uses a 49kW (67hp) motor and a 1.0m3 bucket.
