Libyan deal for STRABAG

A consortium headed by STRABAG will handle a highway contract in Libya worth €104 million.

A consortium headed by 945 Strabag will handle a highway contract in Libya worth €104 million. The project is for the upgrade of the coastal highway between Ras Ejdir and Garaboulli in Libya, as well as the construction of the Tripoli Western Access. In total, 103km of dual-carriage and 97km of single-carriage roadway will be built. Work is already underway and is due for completion in June 2013. STRABAG's share is some 60% of the deal, around €62 million, with the rest split with its local partner.

    Serbia has managed to reduce the cost of building the Corridor 10 highway by €80 million. These funds will instead be used to pay for upgrades and improvements needed for the second section of the highway project, close to Neradovci. So far some 180km of the Corridor 10 highway has been built over a 40 month time frame. A further 150km of the highway has still to be built. Work on the Corridor 10 motorway is also being financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the state budget.

    The tender process for upgrade works on the D1 highway in the Czech Republic is attracting international bidding. The five sections of highway are worth €173.2 million in all, with investments of €59 million planned for 2012. Companies entering bids so far include Metrostav, Skanska, Strabag, Eurovia CS, Swietelsky Stavebni, OHL ZS, Dalnicni Stavby Praha.
