A major road project in Kuwait now has the go-ahead and construction will commence shortly.

A major road project in Kuwait now has the go-ahead and construction will commence shortly. A consortium comprising local firm 3103 Boodai Construction, the Italian companies 975 Rizzani De Eccher and the 978 Trevi Group and Spanish firm 980 OHL won the deal with a bid of US$840 million.

Egis, based in Guyancourt, north of Paris, made the purchase for an undisclosed sum. The move follows the purchase in Brazil of highways contractor Lenc at the end of last year.     The contract for the second drive for the Karavanke tunnel connecting Slovenia with Austria is now once more being tendered. The project was awarded earlier this year to the Turkish contractor, Cengiz Insaat Sanayi Ve Ticaret. However this deal was then annulled and the firm prevented from reapplying.
