Kosovo's highway plans

The Kosovan Government has ambitious plans and aims to have finished building the new Route 6 highway linking with Macedonia as well as rebuilding the existing national roads during the next four years. The Kosovan Transport Ministry has said that the tender process for the Macedonia link will open in 2012 while the work will commence in 2013 and the road is expected to be complete by 2014.

    The first agreements for Amsterdam’s proposed underground highway have now been reached. These have been made by the Dutch Minister for the Environment and Transport as well as Amsterdam local authority and the province of North-Holland. Under the agreed terms, the A10 highway will feature 12 lanes of traffic in four 1.2km tunnels under the capital, Amsterdam. The project will also include building metro and rail lines underground.

    The tender process is getting underway for a series of highway contracts in Algeria. Several sections of the East-West Highway linking Arzew and Oran are being opened to bidding.     The Polish ministry of infrastructure announced that it will retender for building the last 27km section of the Expressway S14 around Lodz. Poland’s road authority GDDKiA said it was not satisfied with the offers it had received during the tender. They were higher than the budget by around €59 million, reaching upwards of €487 million.
